How to book the slow ferry from Bali to Lombok or Nusa Penida

If you want to go to Lombok or Nusa Penida your only options seems to be the speed boat (or plane to Lombok) but there is also a slow ferry for everyone who wants to save money or is a bit too afraid to go with the speed boat after all the Tik Tok videos.

It is just really hard to book and if you google it you won’t find the right website.

Booking process:

Here is all you need to know how to book it:

  • Head to the website ferizy.com. It’s best to do it over chrome since it gives you the option to get the website translated!

  • Put in your start harbour for example Padang Bai Bali and your destination harbour. It normally gives you 2 options:

Nusa Penida

West-Nusa Tenggara (which is Lombok)

  • For service just click on regular

  • For type of service user click on Pedestrian if you are going without a vehicle

  • Then you just need to put in the date and time you want to go

  • When you get to Padang Bai just ask the local people where the ferry goes from (it’s very close to the speed boat but a bit further down, marked in red in the photo below)

  • Also be aware that the boat ends at a different harbour in Lombok than the speedboat!

  • The last step is the payment which can be quite a problem since you can’t buy it with most foreign credit cards.

So the best way is to get a local to pay for it and you can just give them the amount (or a bit more in cash)

I did it over a local who the girl I met while travelling already knew. You can find him over Instagram under @teojuve he can book this for you as well as pick you up from the airport and book activities for you.

Costs:

The ferry will cost you only 65000 idr which is just a few euros so it is super cheap.

It will take you just a bit under 5 hours to get to Lombok which was not as bad as it first sounded. If you go with some friends who can keep you company it’s not a problem at all!

Infos to the boat:

It is a basic ferry but you can buy some cheap local food. You can sit inside (which is normally quite full) or outside which is what we did. It is quite an experience since there will be 90% only local people.
